Totally Flawless Traveling. That is the best part. Bogdan even made arrangements for us to visit a couple of castles that were not originally on our tour. I have spoke highly of Gate 1 to many others, and will continue to do so. Gate 1 does an amazing job on all counts.

She has a sparkling personality and was friendly, professional, and sincere. All the staff were amazing, but she really stood out. When it comes to fleet size, Viking River Cruises stands head and shoulders above Gate 1 Travel (and every other line). It is the world's largest river cruise operator with a fleet of 70 ships, the majority of which make up its fleet of 190-passenger European Longships. It also has ships in Egypt and Asia and is launching its first ship on the Mississippi in 2023.

While we were not is a suite, there was never any indication that anything extra came with the suite. This included marketing materials, reading reviews, and being on the cruise. The lunchtime buffet -- which includes soup, a daily sandwich and dessert served to the table -- is a mealtime highlight. There are themed buffets too, such as a Bavarian feast where staff dress up in costume and the chef carves a whole suckling pig.

You also might find a noticeably younger crowd aboard. Although many passengers are 55+ and seniors, there were some younger couples too. In addition to couples, there were some small groups of friends plus a few solo travelers, who quickly made new friends as a result of the ship's inclusive and welcoming atmosphere. Gate 1 Travel offers escorted tours, European river cruises, independent vacations and customized international vacation packages for less. Our discount travel packages and tour packages to destinations worldwide provide exceptional value, saving our customers time and money. We have taken care of all the details so you don't have to.

The Maitre'd, Marius Miren, could always be found checking to make sure each of us enjoyed our meals. The breakfast buffet provided a variety of delicious choices to start our day. Every member of the wait staff was pleasant and attentive to details. We thoroughly enjoyed our Danube River Cruise. We have gone on many many ocean cruises, but this was our first river cruise and thanks to the ship staff and all the port guides, we will plan more river cruises. Our son had a separate cabin and the staff made it easy for us both to be kept together in every aspect of the trip.

Our servers Jacinta and Amr were so sweet and professional. We sat in the same spot daily to be with them. The bartender Marius was so kind, fun and remembered everything. Marius from the restaurant was hilarious and helpful. The chef threw down some awesome meals and exposed us to local flavors.
This was a river cruise to see tulips, but the old cities were the hit for me. The cruise guide did a wonderful job and was with us on all tours. The activity director was lots of fun, and he, too, was with us on all tours.
Complete Portugal
While most of the time river cruises operate exactly as planned, weather conditions may result in high or low water levels which impact a ship's itinerary and, on occasion, render a ship unable to sail at all. On very rare occasions, other events such as heavy fog, a damaged lock, or an incapacitated vessel blocking the river, may impact a sailing. These events typically occur with little or no notice.
River cruises aren't known for their onboard entertainment, which is generally pretty low-key and confined to a one-man-band resident musician and singer. In 2017, Gate 1 Travel appointed onboard entertainment managers on its European cruises. The result is a fun program of included daily activities that begin with an early morning exercise class. My family and I returned from a Danube Fiver cruise on the Monarch Queen August 25th to September 1. The cruise could not reach its final destination, Regensburg, because of some heavy rains which caused the Danube to rise.
The total tour cost includes the tour price (regular or promotional) and the compulsory local payment. The promotional price is subject to change. Check directly with the operator for the latest price offer. The tour operator requires you to pay only the tour price to purchase your travel.
Viking provides passengers with the option of prepurchasing gratuities and paying them with the final account prior to travel, or having them automatically added to the shipboard account. The lower prices of the cruises are mostly reflected in the food and beverage offerings. More expensive river cruise lines include wine, beer and soda with lunch and dinner and on Monarch Empress there are only complimentary drinks at dinner. Bottled water is provided in the cabin but it is not handed out for shore excursions. Additionally, the ship does not offer a speciality dining venue or option of a light lunch buffet in the lounge.
Of course, there are reasons why the fares are lower than others (see the end of the article), but you certainly won't feel short-changed as the line offers quality cruises without the luxury price tag. Here are 10 reasons to love Gate 1 Travel for a river cruise -- and a few that might mean it's not the right company for you. One of my best Gate one tours because everyone one on the boat really cared that my travel companion and I had the best time.

And just doing spot checking the airfare was cheaper on uniworld-so it might be less than the $600. So if the cabins are still available will go with uniworld. My mom is a little gun shy because of the vantage cancellation. I think she wants to stay with a well know river cruise company even though I told her all companies have done this. The company provides a "one stop shop" for booking a vacation and offers Travelex Travel Protection that covers trip cancellation, interruption, baggage loss or delay, medical expenses and more.
Viking sails on the Danube, Rhine, Main, Rhone, Saone, Seine, Elbe, Douro, Nile, Mekong, and the waterways of Holland. Additionally, with its fleet of ocean ships it also offers a combined river and ocean vacation that cover the Rhine and Norwegian fjords. We really enjoyed the Sound of Music riverboat. Our guide, Tony was excellent full of all types of information. Fares cover red and white wine, beer and soda with dinner.
